Secondary School & College Awards

Each award is assigned an estimated delivery time, which is the average time a learner spends with an assessor or adult to support them (guided learning hours), added to the average time spent learning independently. It is recognised that the amount of time needed to complete an award will depend on the level of experience of each individual or group. For this reason, the assigned guided learning hours (GLH) should be used as guidance only.

Evidence and Assessment

Young people create an individual portfolio, by collecting evidence of their journey and skills development that are mapped to the competencies covered in the Award. Once students have completed their portfolio, it is assessed internally by the Assessor at their school. An external Critical Thinkers Moderator then validates this assessment through a supportive moderation process.

Specification

There are three units that need to be explored in order to achieve the award. The award cannot be achieved without completing each unit. The Gold Award has an additional Connecting Skills. Out of the Classroom project activity, where amalgamated skills are demonstrated.
